Invaincu en cinq sorties, Nuevo vient de s’imposer dès son coup d’essai dans les semi-classiques à Enghien dans le Prix Abel Bassigny. Avant le Critérium, c’est cette fois la cendrée de Vincennes qui l’attend pour un coup d’essai qui va beaucoup dire avant le groupe I, mais les limites du protégé de la famille Duvaldestin sont mal définies pour l’heure. Et ses compagnons d’entraînement que sont Nuevo Cash, fautif dès le départ en dernier lieu et à reprendre, ainsi que Net Money, malchanceux dans le Prix Albert Viel et bon finisseur depuis, ont également les moyens de s’imposer ici, comme le Allaire Nat King Cole, modèle de régularité. Bien connu à ce niveau, Nelson Emgé visera les places alors que Nobel du Rib passera un test très intéressant en pareille société.
