VICTOR HUGO was game in defeat when a beaten odds-on favourite last time. He wouldn't be winning out of turn and needn't improve much (if at all) in his first-time blinkers to open his account. FUTURE FREQUENCY was gelded after a disappointing last start and is open to improvement so could make life difficult for the selection, even over this shorter trip. However, despite his wide gate, a bigger threat could come from well-bred SHOW OFF whose debut over a shorter trip was encouraging and the extra 200m is probably more to his liking. SPECTACULAR and CHASINGTHERAINBOW complete the shortlist.
